You don’t need coding experience at all or in any language we teach. You can learn with the students which works well.

You don’t need to be DBS checked straight away but we may get you registered at some point.

No! Come when it suits you! This is true for students and mentors.

Our mentors all have completely different experience including:

  • Python
  • Web (HTML, CSS, JS, Node, PHP)
  • Scratch
  • Electronics (Raspberry Pi, Micro:bits)
  • Small Basic
  • Cobalt
  • C#
  • C++
  • etc.

We specialise in Python but we do various other projects and try and support students in what they are interested in.

No – but it can be useful for students to be able to carry on with projects at home. We do have a number of laptops that can be used by students who do not have their own.

No. We encourage group sharing via weekly ‘show & tell’ as it gives a great opportunity for students and mentors to show off their successes and explain the challenges they have overcome.

  • Students login to the register, get projects loaded, and say hello to the others (30 mins)
  • We do a fun Kahoot quiz to learn basic coding concepts. This is most students favourite part of the session. Nobody knows if you’re not doing well so it’s really great fun. (20 mins)
  • Students join a group input and learn to code a project or work on their own thing (1 hour 45mins)
  • Show and tell of what students have produced that day (20mins)
